Quimpac S.A. (Perú) to install UHDENORA BM 2.7 membrane electrolyzer technology

Quimpac will expand one of their Chlor-Alkali plants using UHDENORA’s latest energy saving and environmental friendly technology.

Lima (Peru), Febrary 10, 2011 – Quimpac S.A. (“Quimpac”), an integrated producer of salt and chemical products in Peru, and one of the five main producers of Chlor-Alkali in South America, announced that it has concluded a contract with UHDENORA S.p.A. of Italy, for the expansion of one of its Chlor-Alkali plants in Perú by using UHDENORA’s membrane technology.

Under the terms of the contract, UHDENORA will provide the complete plant sections. UHDENORA will also be in charge of the plant engineering and supervision for erection and plant commissioning. The contract expands on previous contracts between Quimpac and UHDENORA over the past several years to advance the Chlor-Alkali production technologies in their facilities in South America, emphasizing in environmentally friendly and energy savings solutions.

Construction of the cell elements as well as the catalyst layer of the electrodes will be performed by Industrie De Nora, one of UHDENORA shareholders, in its workshops in Germany.

The new plant will have a capacity of 64,000 ECU´s, and is scheduled to come on stream in the 1st Quarter 2013.
