UHDENORA S.p.A. is pleased to announce the signature of the contract with Shaanxi Beiyuan Chemical Industry Group Co. Ltd / CNCCC for the expansion of the membrane chlor-alkali plant today under construction in Jinjie, Yulin City, Shaanxi Province – P.R. China.
This is the second contract with Shaanxi Beiyuan Chemical Ind. Co, and it represents a key milestone for Beiyuan’s one million tonne per year PVC plant, project that will promote Beiyuan as one of the most important chemical companies in China.
In 2008, Beiyuan signed the contract with UHDENORA for a capacity of 400.000 ton per year of caustic soda.
The new contract is related to the phase 2 of the project, where additional 400.000 ton per year of caustic soda will be produced. UHDENORA shall supply the cell house basic engineering, catholyte system and brine system together with the proven and energy-saving “Uhde single element” cells type BM 2.7, cell room accessories and safety equipment, instrumentation as well as the technical support for the commissioning of the electrolysers.
The chlorine produced shall be processed to PVC via the calcium carbide process which considers coal as main feedstock.
Assembling of the BM 2.7 cell elements as well as the catalyst layer of the electrodes will be performed by Industrie De Nora in its workshops in Germany .
Uhdenora is a joint company of Uhde/Germany and Industrie De Nora/Italy, and has a workforce of 70 employees. The company's activities focus on the design and construction of chemical and other industrial plants mainly in the following fields: chlor-alkali electrolysis, hydrochloric acid electrolysis and bleaching chemicals.
