Uhdenora has received a contract from Malay – Sino Chemical Ind. for a new membrane chlor-alkali production unit to be erected in Kemamman, Malaysia.
Continuing the long term relationships with Uhdenora, this order follows the successful installation of the first BM 2.7 membrane electrolyzer in 2005, who has demonstrated the high level of reliability and efficiency that are the characteristics of the this technology.
The new Uhdenora plant will have a capacity of 90 TPD NaOH.
Uhdenora will supply the basic and detail engineering for the cell house and the catholyte system, together with the proven and energy-saving “Uhde single element” cells type BM 2.7, cell room accessories, instrumentation as well as the technical support for the commissioning of the electrolyser.
Assembling of the BM 2.7 cell elements as well as the catalyst layer of the electrodes will be performed by Industrie De Nora in its workshops in Germany .
The new electrolysers are scheduled to come on stream in the 1st Quarter 2010.
Uhdenora is a joint company of Uhde/Germany and Industrie De Nora/Italy, and has a workforce of 71 employees. The company's activities focus on the design and construction of chemical and other industrial plants mainly in the following fields: chlor-alkali electrolysis, hydrochloric acid electrolysis and bleaching chemicals.
